Well, really he just likes the aesthetics more than anything. They're actually a bit of a coward when it comes to actually scary things, but they usually have enough unearned confidence to cope with them.

Doesn't really experience empathy. Tries to cheer up people who are sad, but mostly just because sad people aren't fun to talk to, and because cheering someone up gives him a slight sense of accomplishment. Doesn't really understand how people feel though, and often misjudges how people will react to his actions.

Still, while there are sometimes misunderstandings or conflicts, they're generally a fairly pleasant person to talk to.

Their world used to be a lot more scary and dangerous, but they toned it down over time after they realized just how little their inhabitants actually liked that.

Convinced that they could easily survive in a horror movie (They would die immediately.) They have little fighting experience, and their massive scythe is mainly just there because it looks cool. In fairness, their fighting is more effective the more cool they look, but that ability can only help them so much.
